At present, a major project for the Quebec Chapter is the launch of the English version of the Practical Guide to Gluten-Related Disorders and the Gluten-Free Diet for Public and Private residential care and for Meals-on-Wheels. This is a collaborative project between the FQMC and the Quebec Chapter to meet the needs of seniors who can no longer prepare safe gluten-free meals for themselves.
We also collaborate with both our national CCA and the FQMC in making referrals to the Gluten Verified and Gluten Smart programs. These programs were launched in 2016 for restaurants to standardize training and handling processes for gluten-free food. The goal is to improve customer safety, foster staff engagement, and to reduce the risk of negative publicity in establishments who participate. The third party certification process gives recognition to the restaurant which provides safe gluten-free food.
